Compressive performance of fiber reinforced polymer encased recycled concrete with nanoparticles

Nanomaterials have been used in improving the performance of construction materials due to their compacting micro-structure effect and accelerating cement hydration reaction. Considering brittle characteristic fiber reinforced polymer (termed as FRP) tube encased concrete inferior properties recycled concrete, nanoparticles were FRP aggregate concrete. The axial compressive treated with strengthening, termed FRP-NPRC, investigated by compression experiments theoretical analysis. Five experimental variables considered including (1) dosages (2) varieties (i.e. 1% 2% nanoSiO2, nanoCaCO3), (3) replacement ratios coarse aggregates RCAs) (0%, 50%, 70% 100%) RCAs mainly produced from waste cracked bricks, (4) number glass (GFRP) layers (2, 4 6-layer) (5) mixing methods Results indicate that combination confinement nanoparticle modification exhibited up 76.2% increase strength 7.62 times ductility improvement. Furthermore, a design-oriented stress–strain model on basis ultimate condition analysis executed evaluate property this strengthened component.
